Members of the Peace Education Hub participated in the Dialogue Platform on the Role of Education and Young People in Strengthening Trust and Social Dialogue, held on 24 June 2026 in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The event was organised as part of the Dialogue for the Future 3 (DFF3) programme, jointly implemented by UNDP, UNICEF, and UNESCO with the support of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Peacebuilding Fund (PBF), in cooperation with the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It also formed part of the first UN Peacebuilding Week in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a global initiative dedicated to sharing experiences, partnerships, and approaches that contribute to sustainable peacebuilding.

Bringing together representatives of public institutions, the education sector, international organisations, civil society, and young people, the Dialogue Platform provided an opportunity to reflect on the role of education in fostering dialogue, inclusion, social cohesion, and long-term peacebuilding in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Participants also reviewed the achievements and lessons learned from the Dialogue for the Future programme and explored ways in which both formal and non-formal education can further contribute to building resilient and inclusive communities.

The programme featured two panel discussions: “Education Systems for Trust and Dialogue – Priorities for the Future” and “The Legacy of DFF – Lessons Learned and the Way Forward.” Discussions emphasised several priorities for the future, including the integration of peace education across all levels of education, the active involvement of young people as drivers of social initiatives and change, increased opportunities for student mobility during pre-university education, and the institutionalisation of peacebuilding principles within educational policies and curricula.

The Dialogue Platform concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation among educational institutions, policymakers, civil society organisations, and young people in order to advance inclusive education and contribute to lasting peace and social cohesion in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
