The Peace Education Hub (University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Philosophy), in collaboration with Pro Peace Bosnia and Herzegovina and Leiden University, invites you to visit the exhibition Picturing Scholasticide (https://www.picturingscholasticide.org/), which will be held at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo (entrance hall), from 8 May to 22 May 2026.

This exhibition builds on a long-standing collaboration between the Peace Education Hub and Leiden Law School (University of Leiden), which began in 2021 with an online course on justice and the rule of law in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina. The course was designed by Professor Nadia Sonneveld (Leiden Law School), while members of the Peace Education Hub, Melisa Forić Plasto and Lejla Mulalić, contributed by designing and teaching one of its modules, focusing on education in post-conflict Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since then, the partnership has expanded through teaching exchanges, summer schools, and study visits, fostering meaningful dialogue between students and scholars from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Netherlands.
Picturing Scholasticide is a multimodal exhibition developed by staff and students of Leiden University in collaboration with Palestinian photographers and web designers. First presented in Leiden in June 2025, the exhibition is conceived as a travelling project aimed at raising awareness and supporting the rebuilding of educational institutions in Gaza and across Palestine.
Through powerful visual narratives, the exhibition reflects on the devastating consequences of war for education, knowledge, and intellectual life, while underscoring the urgent necessity of peace.
The exhibition in Sarajevo will be set up by distinguished independent artist of the Canton of Sarajevo and member of the Peace Education Hub, Muhamed Kafedžić.
An opening workshop for students who will participate in setting up the exhibition will take place on 8 May 2026 at 12:00, and will be moderated by Muhamed Kafedžić.
We warmly invite students, colleagues, and the wider public to visit the exhibition and take part in this important conversation.
