Professor Judy Pace held a public lecture at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo on the topic Teaching controversial issues through case study and film on Thursday, November 9, 2023. The organizers of this event were the Department of English, Peace Education Hub, and the Society for the Advancement of Applied Linguistics in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The lecture was attended by a large number of students and teachers of the Faculty of Philosophy who had the opportunity to view the sequences of the film Town Destroyer, which talks about the controversial mural at George Washington High School in San Francisco, which was used as the main topic of the lecture. Professor Judy Pace presented the key starting points for defining and understanding controversial issues in context of teaching, and she shared the examples of the basic pedagogical principles of planning lessons that deal with sensitive topics and controversial issues.
