The final conference of the project “Preparing future teachers in the Western Balkans: Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights” was held in Belgrade, March 24- 25, 2022. It was led by the European Wergeland Center Oslo in cooperation with 12 universities from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia and Serbia, during the project implementation from 2019 to 2022.

Peace Education Hub of the Faculty of Philosophy, which implemented the project at the University of Sarajevo, had the opportunity to present their experiences and results in the implementation of the course modules for professional development of future teachers “Democratic Culture and Peace Pedagogy in Teacher Education”, conducted during the summer semester of the academic year 2020/21 in the Peace Hub. The students of the Department of English Language and Literature, the Department of History and the Department of Pedagogy participated in series of lectures and workshops.

Larisa Kasumagić-Kafedžić and Melisa Forić Plasto actively participated in the Conference panels and discussions aimed at making recommendations for better integration of democratic competencies and human rights in schools and in classrooms. In addition to university representatives, the Conference was attended by representatives of the ministries, educational agencies, students, NGOs and schools where teaching practice was implemented. Peace Education Hub has integrated the methodology developed within this project into various initiatives and activities, and they have also been working on the publication which will integrate all of the experiences gained during this project.
