A full-day workshop entitled Integrative Curriculum Framework: Education for Peace in BiH, through a series of working sessions, was held on June 23, 2025, in Sarajevo. The workshop was attended by a total of 25 university professors, primary and secondary school teachers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and several students from Cornell University from the USA, who are doing internships at our Center. The workshop aimed to jointly review, adapt, and prepare a draft of the basic curriculum framework for peace education, so that it could be applied at different educational levels.

In the introductory part, the participants were presented with the project, the purpose of the workshop, the expected outcomes, and a presentation of the draft framework with an explanation of its structure, purpose, and time plan for further work. This was followed by a question-and-answer session to clarify any ambiguities. During the rest of the day, the working groups were tasked with preparing and refining the draft framework (including teacher competencies, student characteristics, and learning outcomes), adapting it to different educational levels, and establishing links between the proposed competencies and existing disciplinary and interdisciplinary content. Participants also began researching and collecting good examples of teaching practice and implementation strategies.

At the end of the workshop, all working groups presented their work, including changes and proposals in the framework, concrete activities, examples from practice, and ideas for application in different educational contexts. The workshop took place in a constructive and cooperative atmosphere, and the contribution of all participants will be of great importance for all subsequent steps in the realization of this project.

This workshop is part of the initiative Dialogue for the Future 3 – DFF3, which is jointly administered by UNDP, UNICEF and UNESCO, and implemented in partnership with the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of the Peacebuilding Fund of the United Nations Secretary General.
